The Jehovah's Witnesses have dishonestly changed their Bible, which they call the New World
Translation (NWT), away from the original languages in many places in order to reflect their own
theology. Instead of letting the Bible determine doctrine, they have historically determined their own
doctrine and then changed the scriptures in order to refect what they preach. Of the 6 guys that did
this dastardly work, only one of them, Freddie Franz, knew any Greek at all. Hardly fluent enough to
translate, he had studied it for only two years.... but he didn't study the biblical Greek, he studied the
wrong kind of Greek! It didn't matter because they weren't there to make a translation anyway....they
were there to change the Bible! Not ony is the version dificult reading, most notably, this scriptural
slight of hand is where the doctrine of the Trinity or the Diety of Jesus is concerned. Furthermore, as
we shall see, the Watchtower feels no shame in destroying Bible texts, and they certainly have none
when it comes to manipulating other information as well. However, starting with actual photocopied
passages from their NWT, let's look at what they have done:

They want you to forget about the fact that unlike electricity, the Holy Spirit has personality (He can teach, comfort, etc.)....and that He was even called God at Acts 5:3-4. | The second place we come to is where God gives His name in Ex 3:14.....and this is a trite confusing. Everyone knew God's name was JHWH from the Hebrew here, but because Hebrew is vague with vowels and the name was not written down much, no one really knew where to put the vowels. The best guess was to insert the three vowels 'e', 'o', and 'a'.....and so for the last few centuries, J'e'H'o'V'a'H was used. (Also of note was that the 'J' was like the German 'J' in the name of Carl Jung..... pronounced more like Y than J.). Then, the Watchtower claimed they were prophets and communicating directly with God. They claimed he communicated His true name to them as Jehovah and that no one should use anything else. Right after that, God revealed to us that they were again false prophets by letting us find an archaeological inscription where the vowels (only two) were included... J'a'HW'e'H....is thus the proper name for God. In english it is pronounced YAHWEH. |
| Not only that.... but at John 8:58, Jesus claims to be God by referring to this name in the Greek...ego eimi.....I AM. He was claiming to be God! That's why they stoned Him! And if you look there in the NWT you can see the watchtower has to distort this text also! |

| ...Now let's move on to the New Testament where the Watchtower really attempts to butcher the Bible... Here is their "Kingdom Interlinear translation of the Greek Scriptures". On the left side of the pages is the 19th century Westcott and Hort greek that is copyrighted and cannot be changed by the Jehovah's Witnesses. It is highly accurate and is used for many modern translations. But as you can see, they sure mangle the english on the right side.... |
